about

A.G.A.M." is the newest single from Arizona-based, Oklahoma-native Gospel Lee with production by Wayne Klassik. The track takes an in-depth look into how Gospel Lee overcomes one of the biggest obstacles to his growth as an artist, the obstacle of pride. He overcomes this obstacle by taking the glory away from himself and redirecting it to the one it belongs to as he states:

I've never made a sunrise, could never paint a sunrise

Never had a son to watch him die, then watch my son rise

While I'm waiting patiently for Him to ride the sun's skies

I'll give the Glory up and gain favor in the Son's eyes

lyrics

I give the Glory up ‘cuz I don’t even really need it/All Glory goes above ‘cuz I can’t hold it I can’t keep it/My arms too short, plus my hands too small/Equals instant fail before I even try at all/I remain now while you’ve never had a beginning/Ima die in 90 years and you’ll never see your own ending/Existing for a time, got a past present and future/But time exists for you like a watch is made for its user/You’re everywhere at once, while I occupy a space/My hands are made of flesh, your hands are galaxies and space/My simple speech creates sounds so people understand it/Your simple speech creates lights, stars, moons and planets/And safe as I can feel, still feel a need for a savior/Though I feel I’ve made it, feel I need to know the maker/While I might be creative, you’ve been known as The Creator/I’m only seein’ greatness, ‘cuz I know the one who’s greater/

Hook: All Glory Above Me

Try to keep the Glory for myself, gettin’ gassed up/Pride over-inflated, now I’m high up off my own stuff/Never enough, it never seems to go away/Lurkin’ in the shadows, comin’ out when people speakin’ praise/Like Gospel you should just say thank you maybe leave God out of it/People say that all the time so much they tunin’ out of it/Both know He’s the source, but you ain’t gotta be so proud of it/Sound of it’s too humble you could probably turn it down a bit/Flesh wants the Glory wants to keep as much as possible/But Gospel Lee is nothing if you take away the Gospel/Full court mess, inherently wicked and hostile/No good thing in me, not even breath out of my nostrils/Anything about me nice is everything that came from Him/Lamp that’s shinin’ bright, darkness if I’m never pluggin’ in/Like boastin’ on some gifts when you know they freely given/Or sayin’ I cleared my name when we both know I’ve been forgiven/Remind myself this Glory never was the rightful owner/It’s God’s forever, just the product of a righteous donor/Obsessed by love laid it down so He could call me closer/Called me friend, then called me son when formally known as loaner/I’ve never made the sun rise, could never paint a sunrise/Never had a son, and let Him die then watch my son rise/While I’m waitin’ patiently for Him to ride the sun's skies/Give the Glory up and gain the favor in the Son’s eyes

Hook

Bridge

I give the Glory up, forever goes above
I give the fame up, forever goes above
I give the power up, forever goes above
I give the honor up, forever goes above
Not meant to honor us, forever goes above
